Play in a dreamy cloudscape. Marshmallow Clouds let you experience one of those things everyone has always wondered about — walking amidst the clouds. Marshmallow Clouds debuted at the 2016 TIFF digiPlaySpace exhibition (Toronto, ON). Collaboration between Ryerson New Media and Tangible Interaction (Vancouver, BC).
The Marshmallow Clouds are inflatables made of white Tyvek material, each kept inflated with a custom fan. Each cloud also has a custom LED light inside that changes hue depending on movement detected by the system.

Marshmallow Clouds is a collaboration led by Alex Beim and Andrea Buttarini of Tangible Interaction in Vancouver and the New Media program at Ryerson University's RTA School of Media.
This work was commissioned by TIFF for the 2016 digiPlaySpace. Project support from Nick Pagee, curator of the Tiff Digital Play space. Tangible Interaction lead concept and inflatable design while New Media students designed an integrated mechanism to support fans for inflation, power management and the structure for hanging in the exhibition space.
